From the Inn, drive down CR 83 toward Hwy 40. Take the sweeping right hand bend before you reach the highway. This road turns into CR 84 and is marked to Meadowcreek Reservoir. Continue up the road, bypassing CR 841. From this junction go about 3 more miles to the obvious parking pullout on the left. You will see a red gate and a sign for High Lonesome Hut right in front of you. Park here and start your ride.
Ride down the doubletrack trail behind the gate. This is a private easement to the National Forest, so stay on the trail. (And say a big “thank you” to Andy Miller for allowing us to ride here!) Reach the High Lonesome Hut in about 3 miles – stay on the main trail. Pass a green gate and the trail turns to singletrack. Descend for approximately 2 miles. When you get to the “Y” intersection of Strawberry Creek Trail and Strawberry West, stay to the left onto the Strawberry Creek Trail, immediately crossing the creek. Follow the singletrack for about 1.5 miles, passing the Doe Creek Trail junction – do not turn here – keep on Strawberry Creek Trail. About 1 mile further pay close attention and find the sign for Strawberry West Trail and turn right here. Follow this trail back to the intersection with Strawberry Creek Trail and turn left, retracing the trail back to the parking area.
“Best ridden late June – October because it can be super muddy when wet. Likely this will be your own private trail as this route is not well known and is not ridden very much. It’s really high quality riding, not super technical, but totally satisfying and feels remote.”
