Many people daydream about “jumping off” and starting a bed and breakfast somewhere cool. John and Chris actually made the leap and opened Wild Horse Inn in 2001. John worked for many years as soigneur and trainer for professional cycling teams such as Saturn, Volvo-Cannondale, Diamondback and Coors Light, among others. After years of being on the road he was ready to put down some roots. Chris worked most of her former career in the outdoor industry as a sales and marketing professional, representing companies such as 5.10, Trango, and Patagonia, which took Chris and John to Seattle – a whole different way of life and a new, soggier outdoors to explore.
After six years of urban living they were ready to return to Colorado and decided to follow their hearts to the mountains. Wild Horse Inn was born out of their love of high mountain beauty, of cooking and entertaining – and of skiing, mountain biking, trail running and alpenglow.
Not long after opening the Inn weddings followed, and the Wild Horse Catering Company was started to take care of the wedding clients on site. After just one year in house, the Catering Company had so many requests to work at venues throughout the area, Chris and John expanded the staff and the services, and continue to cater all types of events today.
“Jumping off” was really “jumping IN”, and what a life it turned out to be! Join them at Wild Horse Inn and see why they love it all so much.
